If the groundhog pokes its head from its burrow, then the people will assume that spring is coming. And if the sun shines on that day and Phil runs away from his own shadow, then know that winter is going to stay. Thousands of people gather to watch these groundhogs at various festivals.
Thailand’s strange custom
The monkey Buffet Festival of Thailand has grown year after year since its commencement in 1989, when an hotelier had come up with the idea in order to boost the tourism. The Lopburi temples are decked with mountains of vegetables and fruits and cakes and the locals are allowed to feast on it. Add to that, during the festival, the locals roam around in the attire of monkeys, and the monkey art decorate the entire streets.
China’s bizarre tradition
There is a bizarre tradition in China, knowing which, you cannot stop laughing for sure. The brides, in general, should feel happy and excited once their marriage gets fixed. But in China it’s different. There was a custom which was widely prevalent once, the brides had to weep for a month, and is a part of the wedding preparation. As the custom demanded, the brides had to weep every day for one hour and her mother along with other relatives used to join her in this wailing. This tradition is still followed by the Tujia locals of the Wuling Mountains.
